Plano Senior alum Rex Burkhead is adjusting to life quite nicely with the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.

Fresh off the bye week, the former Wildcats made his presence felt in several ways during the Patriots' 41-16 victory over the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football.

Burkhead began the night by hauling in a 14-yard touchdown catch from Tom Brady for New England's first points of the contest. He would go on to finish with 10 carries for 36 alongside three receptions for 27 yards and a score.

The Plano alum also made a key contribution on special teams during the second quarter, blocking a punt that set up a 28-yard field goal by Stephen Gostkowski for a 20-6 advantage. The blocked punt was New England's first since 2014.

On the year, Burkhead has 25 rushes for 100 yards and 15 receptions for 155 yards and two touchdowns for the 7-2 Patriots. He and New England will next travel to Mexico City for a 3:25 p.m. Sunday kickoff against the Oakland Raiders.
