On Thursday, October 10, Team Jack held its Inaugural 'An Evening with Napa Valley' presented by Midwest Oral Surgery & Dental Implants.  The event was held at Happy Hollow Club in Omaha, one of the Midwest’s premier clubs for over 100 years.  The event was presented by local Omaha business and long-time Team Jack supporter, Midwest Oral Surgery & Dental Implants.

During the evening, representatives from sponsor, Republic National Distributing Company, offered a tasting of fine wines from Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars of Napa Valley, California.Among the five wines available for the tasting were Stag’s Leap’s finest, CASK23 and FAY. Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars is best known as the winery that won the 1976 Judgment of Paris and produces a limited amount of product annually making it's wines highly sought after. Guests were offered food pairings with each of the wines, an opportunity to bid on silent and live auctions and a chance to purchase the Stag’s Leap Wines by the bottle or case.

A short program was held featuring Andy Hoffman, co-founder of the Team Jack Foundation & Board Chair, serving as the emcee. Kathy Glow, mother of Joey Glow of Elkhorn, Nebraska, who passed away at age five from brain cancer, shared her family’s story. She spoke on behalf of Midwest Oral Surgery & Dental Implants.

Following Kathy’s heartfelt words, Dr. Don Coulter of UNMC and Children’s Hospital & Medical Center gave an update on the Nebraska Pediatric Brain Tumor Program. He spoke of the infrastructure necessary to build a multi-disciplinary clinic and how that process has begun. The need for kids in our region to have the best treatment options available is imminent. He also updated guests on the progress of current research in brain tumors being done at UNMC and Children’s Hospital from physicians such as Dr. Sid Mahapatra.

In conclusion, over $63,000 was raised during the evening which will directly impact pediatric brain cancer research.  With funds, the Team Jack Foundation is able to continue investing in groundbreaking research to help kids fighting brain cancer.

Kylie Dockter, Executive Director of the Team Jack Foundation, said this of the first-year event, "We were very pleased with the result of the event and look forward to growing it in the years to come. Omaha is a very generous community and has shown it is committed to the fight against childhood brain cancer."
